How to Block IP and URL

 

Restrict certain users from using chat on your website by blocking their IP addresses. You can also enable URL restriction on your website which allows you to display the ProProfs Chat icon only on specific webpages even if you have embedded ProProfs Chat on all pages of your website.

 

There are two ways you can restrict the use of chat on your website:

  1. Block IP
  2. Block URL

 

Here's how you can block IP addresses:

 

Step 1: On your ProProfs Live Chat dashboard, go to Settings >> Advanced >> Block IP or URL.

 

Go to Settings >> Advanced >> Block IP or URL

 

Under the tab Block IP, you can:

  1. Enter the IP address you want to block.
  2. Unblock an IP address to reallow the user from this IP address to use chat again.
  3. Delete an IP address from the list. Remember that deleting an IP address does not unblock it.

 

Another way to limit the use of chat on your website is by blocking URLs. Here's how you can do that:

 

Step 1: Go to the tab Block URL.

 

Go to the tab Block URL

 

Here, you can:

  1. Enable the URL condition setting to use the 'Block URL' feature.
  2. Select the option Hide Chat Icon from the dropdown.
  3. Enter the particular URL of your website page where you want to hide the chat icon.
  4. You can delete the blocked URL from the list. Alternatively, you can unhide the chat icon on this particular URL by clicking the switch button and turning it off (seen alongside the delete icon).
